Enjoy Mouthwatering French Cuisine
This region of the South of France offers many delicacies to try. Sample the famous black truffles, foie gras or duck confit. You can indulge in the culinary delights at traditional farmhouses, Michelin-starred restaurants, or at the campsite restaurant. This is your chance to try something new and enjoy the delicious cuisine of France. You’ll find restaurants in France welcome children, so this is the chance for the little ones to try something new and practise their French.
You’ll also find bustling French markets brimming with fresh produce near our campsite in Gouffre-de-Padirac. Here you can fill your basket with fruit, vegetables, and local cheeses for a picnic in the countryside. Staying in a mobile home gives you flexibility when it comes to food too. You can buy your own ingredients and cook at home, or you can choose to eat out. Don´t forget to visit a local baker when you want to stock up on croissants and pains au chocolat for breakfast.
Tour the Dordogne Vineyards
A camping trip to the Dordogne isn´t complete without a visit to the local vineyards. The warm summer sun creates the perfect growing conditions for wines like Cahors and Bergerac. Make sure you take a few bottles back to your campsite to enjoy while watching the sunset from your private terrace. If you’ve driven to France, you can also take a selection of your favourite wines home too.
The vineyards of Sarlat are also a great location to explore by bicycle as a family. You can cycle through country lanes and stop off for lunch wherever takes your fancy. If you want to take a souvenir home, try Vin de Noix – an aperitif made with walnuts, which are another speciality of this region.
