Activities in the campsite vicinity

Hikes in La Maddalena archipelago
Set off to explore La Maddalena archipelago and its wealth of natural riches, with direct boats from the campsite or Palau. The Asinara National Park, which was previously the prison island, is now a unique destination, perfect for traditional hikes through unspoilt landscapes.
Nature has reclaimed the Sardinian countryside so, if you’re lucky, you’ll get to enjoy some wonderful encounters: white donkeys (the symbol of the island), big horn sheep, wild boar, wild horses and lots of bird life. Picture yourself exploring the winding trails, surrounded by pristine countryside, with the turquoise sea as a backdrop. Find the trail to suit your level: the lighthouse trail, the memory trail or the white donkey trail.

Hiking trails from Capo d’Orso
Slip on your hiking shoes and set off early to explore the region, hiking through the Sardinian countryside . There are numerous hiking trails starting out from Palau or Capo d’Orso, passing through rolling countryside, cork-oak forests and picturesque villages steeped in history.
- Up to Roccia dell’Orso, or Bear Rock, at Capo d’Orso
- Monte di la Muvra
- Palau beach coastal hiking trail
Our recommendation for a perfect day in Sardinia: get up at dawn, so you can enjoy the cool morning air and sunrise, and set off for an energetic walk, ending with a refreshing dip in a creek. (Remember your water bottle when out walking).

Bike rides in Sardinia
Sardinia is a magnificent island which is particularly well suited to bike rides, and the Palau region is no exception. There’s something for all tastes: easy, family-friendly rides, or more energetic MTB trails.
Rent your bike from the campsite and set off through the varied landscapes of the Sardinian countryside, exploring the quiet roads of La Maddalena archipelago and marvelling at the stunning sea views of the Costa Smeralda.

Water sports
As you may have noticed, Capo d’Orso is a paradise for water sports enthusiasts. Contact our partner companies in the campsite or feel free to practise your favourite sport independently. Whether you're on the water, admiring the picture postcard setting or under water exploring the region’s exceptional flora and fauna, you won't be disappointed.
Did you know? La Maddalena archipelago, which forms a natural bridge to Corsica, is one of 2 national parks in Italy made up primarily of sea (more than 70%). So, once you’re done with your hiking shoes, it’s time for your flippers!
